Föreningsutlåtande angående Oskar Edlund

Under onsdag förmiddag den 24 juli informerade Oskar Edlund, aktuell för OS i Paris, Täby IS Friidrotts styrelse om att han dömts till dagsböter för ringa narkotikabrott, som skedde i augusti 2023, vilket det under onsdagskvällen rapporterades om i media.
Som klubb tar vi starkt avstånd från all användning av droger. Det strider mot vår värdegrund och vi ser mycket allvarligt på det som har inträffat. Att vara elitaktiv innebär att man är en viktig förebild för många barn och unga, både i och utanför den egna klubben.
Oskar Edlund säger i ett utlåtande tillsammans med Svenska Friidrottsförbundet:
- Jag hade gärna haft det ogjort, men jag har tagit mitt straff. Nu får jag ta konsekvenserna för det jag gjort. Det var en väldigt korkad grej att göra. Som elitidrottare har jag ett ansvar både mot mig själv och min kropp och framför allt mot alla barn och ungdomar som ser upp till mig och tycker att jag är en förebild.
Både SOK och Svenska Friidrottsförbundet är eniga i att ge Oskar full support inför OS, och det gör även vi som klubb. Så här kommenterar förbundskapten Kajsa Bergkvist situationen till friidrott.se:
– Svensk Friidrott tar avstånd från allt bruk av droger och jag ser mycket allvarligt på det inträffade. Samtidigt har jag som förbundskapten att göra bedömningar från fall till fall och efter ingående diskussioner med Oskar är jag övertygad om att det här handlade om en engångsföreteelse, ett stort misstag som inte kommer att upprepas och det har inte heller varit tal om något sportsligt fusk av något slag.
Vi tar alltid ansvar för våra aktivas hälsa, och vi kommer efter OS fortsätta ha en nära dialog med Oskar och se till att han får den stöttning han behöver i sin fortsatta satsning.
